Brisca is a widely beloved card game in Spain, Italy, and various parts of Latin America. It is available at no cost and does not require any registration. The game is played with a 40-card deck and offers accessibility features for blind and visually impaired individuals, including full integration with VoiceOver.
Players have the option to engage in Brisca with friends at a 2-player table or challenge a random opponent via wifi or 3G. Furthermore, the game provides the opportunity to compete against users from across the globe online, along with the ability to exchange text messages during gameplay.
The gameplay starts with each player being dealt three cards after shuffling the deck. A card is then placed face up on the playing surface, representing the trump suit known as Briscola in Italian. Prior to commencing the game, a player holding the deuce of trump has the option to exchange the "briscola." This strategic move can only be executed at the start of the game or initial hand. In a four-player game, team members are permitted to reveal their cards to each other before the first hand is played. The dealing and gameplay progress in a counter-clockwise manner.
The player to the right of the dealer initiates the first hand by playing a card face up on the playing surface. Subsequently, each player takes turns playing a card until all participants have contributed one card each. The winner of the hand is determined based on specific rules: - If any trump cards have been played (briscola or brisca), the player with the highest-valued trump card wins. - In cases where no trump cards have been played, the player holding the highest card of the lead suit emerges victorious.
Unlike some other trump card games, players are not obligated to play a card of the same suit as that laid out by the lead player.
Upon determining the triumphant player of a trick, they collect the played cards and stack them face down in their personal pile. Each player maintains their own collected pile, although in four- and six-player versions, one player may be responsible for accumulating all tricks won by their partners.
Following this, every participant draws a card from the remaining deck, starting with the trick winner and proceeding counter-clockwise. It should be noted that the final card acquired in the match must be the face-up Briscola from earlier.
Once all cards have been played, players tally up the total point value of cards in their possession to determine their individual scores.
The game concludes with a general ranking based on these scores.
